3, Impact

By the time children leave Shinfield St Mary's school they will have an excellent knowledge of the diversity of the world they live in and our environmental impact upon it. They will understand the ways in which places are interdependent and interconnected and how much human and physical environments are interrelated. Alongside this they will gain a wide range of geographical knowledge and vocabulary focussed around different concepts and ideas. Through practice, they will be fluent in complex, geographical enquiry and the ability to apply questioning skills in order to answer some of the big questions that we all face. Through the use of oracy and debate they will have the ability to reach clear conclusions and develop reasoned arguments. The curriculum is delivered in such a way as to ensure significant levels of originality, imagination and creativity amongst pupils, which is shown in their  interpretations and representations of their subject matter. They have a passion for and commitment to the subject, and a real sense of curiosity to find out about our world and the people who live here. The ability to express opinions that are well-balanced, and rooted in their understanding about current and contemporary issues in society and the environment.
